Tel Aviv, 21 October 2015 – The Port of Koper Day in Tel Aviv

The Port of Koper Day was held in Tel Aviv on 21 October 2015, organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Tel Aviv and the Port of Koper. More than 140 participants were addressed by the Ambassador-designate Barbara Sušnik, followed by the acting Director General for economic and public diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia Ambassador Robert Kokalj, who presented general and economic relations between Slovenia and Israel, business environment in Slovenia and possibilities for strengthening the cooperation between countries, which are mainly in the field of science and innovation, culture, tourism and also in the framework of the general cooperation between Israel and the European Union, based on Free Trade Agreement and its Action Plan.

The President of the Management Board of the Port of Koper Mr. Dragomir Matić presented the traditionally good cooperation of the Port of Koper with Israeli business. The Director General of the Ministry of Transport Israel Mr. Yigal Maor pointed out the strong maritime tie between the countries.

Other prominent speakers who addressed the participating representatives of Israeli transport, logistic, shipping and export institutions and companies were Mr. Ofer Sachs, CEO, Israeli Export&International Cooperation Institute; dr. Yoram Sebba, President of Israel Chamber of Shipping and Mr. Amir Shani, Chairman of the Israeli Federation of Forwarders and Customs Clearing Agents. They highlighted the good cooperation with the Port of Koper and its comparative advantages, based on excellent geographical position and good connections at sea and on land.

Mr. Andrej Cah, Sales&Marketing Director of the Port of Koper, presented in details the activity of the Port of Koper and its organization and transport connection with major European cities. Mr. Fabio Hrvatin explained the role and work of the Slovenian Association of Port Logistics Providers.

The Israeli experience in cooperation with the Port of Koper was presented by Mr. Avi Sarid (VP Fritz) and Mr. Dubi Gerber (MD International). The efficiency of the organizational and administrative procedures of the Port were stressed, as were other comparative advantages that make it possible to gain several days in transportation, compared to several other ports in Europe.

Several Israeli representatives expressed their satisfaction with the organization of the Port of Koper Day in Tel Aviv and particularly with participation of the representatives of the Port of Koper despite the tensed current circumstances in Israel.

The presentations were followed by B2B sessions.
